At SGIMFA, we want for as wide an array of singers as possible to be able to participate. We therefore do not favor any particular voice type or Fach over another.

As a result, we do not wish to impose any particular standard repertoire for the screening process. We would much prefer that a singer submits an excellent rendition of an unassuming aria, than a poor rendition of a dauntingly difficult one.

While submitting your repertoire choices, bear in mind that, if accepted to the program, you may end up being selected to sing for a casting director. Choose your repertoire accordingly. Do not submit arias from roles you are not able to sing in their entirety.

The only requirement for singers is to submit two arias of your choice: one in German (as this is mandatory in most German theaters), and one in Italian, French, English or Russian.
