Ours is a boutique program offered only to a maximum of twelve participants per session.
Whereas there is often a disconnect between the assumptions and expectations of singers and their teachers and coaches, on the one hand, and the realities (the preferences, priorities and expectations) of the individuals who actually are in key administrative, managerial and casting positions in the professional operatic world, this new program was designed to address and overcome precisely this issue.
Our Professional Operatic Auditions Program includes, in addition to singing teachers and coaches, artists' managers, artistic directors and casting directors amidst its faculty roster. Having the opportunity to work in a master class setting for half an hour (per participant) on a one-on-one basis with these very high-profile and booked-solid individuals, rather than simply auditioning for them, often under stressful circumstances, and having to create a lasting impression within a few minutes, is an exceptional opportunity that no other program offers. Getting their honest feed-back is sure to enhance participants' chances of success in future auditions.
Thanks to Dr. Pons' and Mr. Hönisch's strong ties to, and professional connections with some of the world's leading pedagogues, managers and theater administrators, they are able to gather an impressive roster for the inaugural season of this program. Representatives from the following European theaters and festivals will be in attendance: Theater an der Wien, (Vienna) Austria; Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Opéra de Lyon, France; Opéra de Metz, France; Ruhr Triennale, Germany.
Since key agents and theater administrators are part of the faculty roster, the level expected from participants is, accordingly, very high.
This does not mean, however, that prospective participants who are albeit already advanced but just not quite ready to embark on a professional career may not apply! Nevertheless, it is important to note that only those candidates who in the opinion of the academy's music faculty are truly ready to embark immediately on a professional career in Europe will be chosen to sing for the theater administrators who will invited to Sankt Goar.
