Repertoire for singers

At SGIMFA, we want for as wide an array of singers as possible to be able to participate. While we are indeed looking for excellence in singing, we realize that younger singers in particular may display potential and a level of artistic and musical maturity beyond their current technical prowess.

As a result, we do not wish to impose any particular standard repertoire for the screening process. We would much prefer that a singer submits an excellent rendition of an accessible song, than a poor rendition of a dauntingly difficult one.

Therefore, the only requirement for singers is to:

Submit two songs of your choice: one in German, and one in the target language of the session of your choice (i. e. French, Italian, Spanish or English).

Repertoire for pianists

The select number of pianists who will be admitted to SGIMFA will bear the responsibility of playing for three singers each. Since the repertoire studied by each of those singers will be quite varied in terms of the technical prowess demanded from their respective collaborative pianists, we need to ensure that each and every pianist is capable of successfully facing even the most challenging repertoire.

The audition repertoire for pianists is as follows:

Submit two songs of your choice from amongst the following list:
