Helmut Deutsch, pianist (Austria)

Master class: Collaborative piano and art song interpretation
 

 

Helmut Deutsch was born in Vienna, where he studied piano and composition at the Academy of Music, in addition to musicology at the University of Vienna. In 1967 the Viennese composition prize. Already as a student he was active as a chamber music and collaborative pianist.

 

Helmut Deutsch has been active as partner of various instrumentalist all over the world. His career as collaborative pianist began with the famous soprano Irmgard Seefried. Since then, he has worked with many of the most distinguished singers of our time: Juliane Banse, Barbara Bonney, Grace Bumbry, Ileana Cotrubas, Diana Damrau, Annette Dasch, Brigitte Fassbaender, Angelika Kirchschlager; Olaf Bär, Ian Jonas Kaufmann, Mauro Peter, Hermann Prey, Thomas Quasthoff, Andreas Schmidt, Peter Schreier, Bo Skovhus, and Bernd Weikl amongst many others.

 

In concert he has in the most prominent concert venues of the world. Many of his more than one hundred recordings have received international awards.

 

Between 1967 and 2014, Helmut Deutsch was professor at the Academy of Music in Vienna and in Munich. He is now Guest Professor at the Academy of Music of Frankfurt am Main and in the “Mozarteum” Music University of Salzburg. He regularly teaches interpretation master classes throughout Europe and Asia.
